H Proctor Photography Rebrand

Most of my clients come from two places. Referrals and instagram. After launching my sweet friend and client Holly Felt’s logo, I had an influx of inquiries. Now, I don’t give myself the credit, because I also had a huge increase in photography followers after launching Holly’s brand. Something with the brand and with Holly connected to these business owners and I was happy to have them in my little space on the internet and Heather Proctor was one of them.

Heather came to me as a passionate photographer who had built a heart-felt business in South Carolina and she needed a professional brand to get her in front of her dream clients and grow her business. Heather started photographing others out of her passion for loving on people. She was gifted with a new camera and after photographing her kids and those close to her, she realized that this was a way she could serve others. Her goal is for each client to feel the most cared for and loved-on throughout the process.

If you get a chance to meet Heather, you will come away energized and optimistic. She brightens up a room with her smile and bubbly attitude and it is obvious from your first interaction that she has a true passion for what she was doing and wants to serve her clients in the best way possible.

Heather and I have been working through my trailblazer package and after going through the brand discovery questionnaire and viewing her inspirational Pinterest board, I knew that I was dealing with a business owner who had done the work before even coming to me. She had her mission statement, ideal client profile, and inspiration finalized and ready to go. So the process was seamless and easy.

I took Heather through a seasonal personality discovery and figured out that her brand was rooted in summer with an undertone of spring. Her key words are romantic, efficient, graceful, friendly, quality and communicative.

We knew we wanted a quality looking brand that looked professional and romantic that we could add a friendly, graceful feeling to with the color palette and secondary design elements. So we decided to start playing with a minimal badge/crest and a monogram.

For her brand, we also wanted to play with symbolism of eternal love and everlasting love. And that's when we came up with her secondary design elements. Since her logo ended up being very minimal, we wanted to bring in organic elements to lighten the sharp lines and minimal look. And that's where the three florals came in.

I sketched out a peony, honeysuckle and yarrow for her secondary branding elements. The peony symbolizes "happy life happy marriage", the honeysuckle symbolizes "bonds of love" and the yarrow symbolizes "everlasting love". All very fitting for a wedding photographer.

For her submark, we decided to keep it extremely minimal and create a custom monogram of her H and P inside of a minimal badge.

With how minimal and striking the submark was, we decided to go with a customized chunky serif font with curvy R's to add in some friendliness and grace.

We also created a custom pattern combining the peony and honeysuckle that Heather can use throughout her print and digital material.
